Quantum machine learning is an emerging interdisciplinary research area which resorts to the principles of quantum physics applied to machine learning. Quantum machine learning algorithms helps to improve classical methods of machine learning by taking the advantages offered by quantum computation. Given the inherent parallelism offered due to the features of quantum computing, researchers have evolved different intelligent tools and techniques which are more robust and efficient in performance. Quantum-enhanced machine learning refers to quantum algorithms that solve tasks in machine learning, thereby improving a classical machine learning method. Such algorithms typically require one to encode the given classical dataset into a quantum computer, so as to make it accessible for quantum information processing. After this, quantum information processing routines can be applied and the result of the quantum computation is read out by measuring the quantum system. For example, the outcome of the measurement of a qubit could reveal the result of a binary classification task. While many proposals of quantum machine learning algorithms are still purely theoretical and require a full-scale universal quantum computer to be tested, others have been implemented on small-scale or special purpose quantum devices. Imparting intelligence to the machines has always been a challenging thoroughfare. Over the years, several intelligent tools have been invented or proposed to deal with the uncertainties encountered by human beings with the advent of the soft computing paradigm. However, it has been observed that even the soft computing tools often fall short in offering a reliable and reasonable solution in real time. Hence, scientists employed hybrid intelligent techniques using the combination of several soft computing tools to overcome the shortcomings. Quantum computing has evolved from the studies of Feynman and Deutsche who evolved efficient searching techniques in the quantum domain. These searching techniques outperform the classical techniques both in terms of time and space. Inspired by this, researchers are on the spree for conjoining the existing soft computing tools with the quantum computing paradigm to evolve more robust and time efficient intelligent algorithms. The resultant algorithms are immensely useful for solving several scientific and engineering problems, which includes data processing and analysis, machine vision, social networks, big data analytics, flow shop scheduling problems to name a few.

Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya did his Bachelors in Physics, Bachelors in Optics and Optoelectronics and Masters in Optics and Optoelectronics from University of Calcutta, India in 1995, 1998 and 2000 respectively. He completed PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, India in 2008. He is the recipient of the University Gold Medal from the University of Calcutta for his Masters. He is the recipient of the coveted National Award Adarsh Vidya Saraswati Rashtriya Puraskar for excellence in education and research in 2016. He is the recipient of the Distinguished HoD Award and Distinguished Professor Award conferred by Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, India in 2017. He is the recipient of the coveted Bhartiya Shiksha Ratan Award conferred by Economic Growth Foundation, New Delhi in 2017. He received the NACF-SCRA, India award for Best Faculty for Research in 2017. He received the Honorary Doctorate Award (D. Litt.) from The University of South America and the South East Asian Regional Computing Confederation (SEARCC) International Digital Award ICT Educator of the Year in 2017. Before that, he served as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Information Technology of University Institute of Technology, The University of Burdwan, India from 2005-2011. He was a Lecturer in Information Technology of Kalyani Government Engineering College, India during 2001-2005. Dr. Indrajit Pan, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Kolkata, India
Indrajit has done my Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Burdwan in 2005. Later, he completed Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Information Technology from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur in 2009 and stood first to receive University Medal. Indrajit obtained Ph.D in Engineering from Department of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur in 2015. His present research interest includes community detection, social network analysis and cloud computing. Professionally he has started as Lecturer in CSE/IT at Siliguri Institute of Technology, Siliguri, West Bengal in July 2005. Later in 2006, he moved to RCC Institute of Technology, Kolkata as Lecturer in IT. Presently he is serving there as Associate Professor of IT. In addition to this, Indrajit is the Program Coordinator of B. Tech (IT). Apart from Teaching, he takes active part in organizing Conferences and Training programs for students and faculty members. He also extends active support for different administrative works of the Department and the Institute. Indrajit has a number of research publications in different International journals and conferences. He has also co-authored couple of book chapters and edited research volumes with prestigious publishers like Wiley, Taylor and Francis as well as research proceedings. Dr. Abhijit Das, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Kolkata, India
Dr.Abhijit Das did his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, India. He did Master of Technology in Information Technology from University of Calcutta in 2005 after the completion of Bachelor of Technology in the year 2003 from the Kalyani University. Abhijit is on service since 2004 when he joined as a lecturer at RCCIIT. He is presently an Associate Professor and Head of the department of IT, RCCIIT Kolkata, besides being the departmental representative of Training & Placement Committee. Abhijit has remained the co-author of several international journals and conference proceedings. He is also editing a research volume as well as a special issue with Indersience, UK. He was and/or is the programme committee member of several International Conferences. He has also been the convener of Faculty Development Programme, RCCIIT (2014) and the Anti-Ragging committee (2011-2013). Besides serving as the guest faculty at West Bengal University of Technology and Techno India Salt Lake, he has also acted as the Officer-in-Charge of the College (RCCIIT) in WBUT Examinations Odd Semester (2009). Apart from being a dedicated teacher of the institute, Mr. Das has always remained an integral part of the social and cultural family of the college being the teacher-in-charge of freshers’ welcome program, college fest – Regalia (2005, 2006), Chairman of Students’ Welfare Committee (2013-2014), Executive Secretary/Advisor of college magazine – WASSUP (since 2006), teacher-in-charge college Year Book – PREKSHAN, executive committee member of RCCIIT Alumni Association, etc.Mr. Das is the member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), USA, Civil Works Committee RCCIIT (TEQIP) 2012-2013 and Departmental Purchase Committee too. Abhijit is exclusively attached with several professional musical projects and is an active singer of the DoorDarshan and All India Radio, Kolkata.

Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Mani, Amity School of Engineering & Technology, India
Dr. Ashish Mani is currently serving as Professor and Head (Research and Publications) in Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida. He graduated from National Institute of Technology (N.I.T.), Durgapur in 1997. He pursued his M.Tech in Engineering Systems and Ph.D. in the area of Quantum Evolutionary Algorithms, Department of Electrical Engineering from Faculty of Engineering, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), which is accredited in Grade ‘A’ by NAAC, India. He has more than sixteen Years of Research and Teaching experience and about four years of Industry experience. He has worked with Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), M/s Dar-Al-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and M/s Technip KT India Ltd., a subsidiary of M/s Technip S. A., a French Multinational. He has forty five publications in International and National journals and peer-reviewed Conference Proceedings. He is co-Editor of a book being published by Springer. He has also filed seven Patents. A patent on Kirlian imaging was result of the work done under UGC Major Project worth INR One Million, which has been rated as ‘Good’ during review. Currently, he is Principle Investigator of an R&D project on developing a novel PCB Prototyping Machine under Instrument Development Plan of Department of Science and Technology. He has delivered talks at Center for Excellence in Computational Intelligence and Application, Birmingham University, UK in 2010, Department of Computer Science, Christian-Albrechts University, Kiel, Germany in 2010, Centre for Theoretical Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Department of Computer Science, Bowie State University, Maryland, USA, in 2011. He has received funding from Department of Science and Technology under International Travel Support Scheme in 2011 for attending conference in USA. He is keenly interested in Interdisciplinary Research & Development and has experience spanning fields of Quantum Computing, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, and Information Technology.

Prof. (Dr.) Elizabeth Behrman, Wichita State University, Kansas, USA
Dr. Elizabeth Behrman earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics, in 1979, from Brown University. She completed her master’s, in chemistry, in 1981, and her PhD, in physics, in 1985, both at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As an undergraduate she was awarded an NSF Undergraduate Research Participation Fellowship and membership in Sigma Xi. At Illinois she was a recipient of a graduate fellowship. Since 2004 she has been full professor of both physics and mathematics at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, where she has earned the President’s Distinguished Service Award, in 2015, and the Academy for Effective Teaching Award, in 2012. She was also appointed Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics Scholar, from 2006-2008, and in 2009. Prior to this she was professor of physics, from 2002 to 2004, and Chair of the physics department from 2003 to 2006. She was associate director of the honors program at Wichita State from 1999-2003. Prior to this she was associate professor of physics at Wichita State from 1994-2002. During this time she was a recipient of a Lady Davis Fellowship, at Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, 1996-7. Before that she was assistant professor at Wichhita State, from 1990 to 1994. Prior to that she was assistant professor of ceramic engineering at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, in Alfred, NY. She has published over 60 papers in journals over a wide range of fields, including engineering, physics, and chemistry, reflecting her wide range of interests including chemical kinetics and reaction pathways, ceramic superconductors, glass structure, and nuclear waste vitrification. She was the first to predict the possibility of stable spheroids and tubes made of inorganic materials, in 1994. She is also one of the first and major researchers in quantum machine learning. She and her research group have published seminal papers onn temporal and spatial quantum backpropagation quantum Hopfield networks, quantum Q-learning, and quantum genetic algorithm.

Prof. (Dr.) Susanta Chakraborty, IIEST, Shibpur, India
Prof (Dr.) Susanta Chakraborty received the Bachelors (B. Tech) and Masters (M.Tech) degree in Technology from the University of Calcutta in 1983 and 1985 respectively. and Ph.D(Tech) degree in computer science in 1999 from University of Calcutta and Research work done at Advance computing and Microelectronic Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He is currently a Professor in the department. Computer Science and Technology of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, West Bengal, India. Prior to this he has served University of Kalyani as a Dean of Engineering, Technology and Management faculty. He has published around 80 research papers, appeared in very reputed International Journals including IEEE Transactions on CAD and other IEEE transactions and refereed international Conference proceedings of IEEE Computer Science Press. He obtained one patent by International body. Two(2) books published by International publication Springer, Germany in the year 2016 and 2017 and six(6) book chapters Dr. Chakraborty awarded INSA-JSPS Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in the session 2003-2004 and works have been done in collaboration with Professor H. Fujiwara of Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, in the area of Test Generation of Sequential Circuits and Low Power Design. He has been invited from Institute of Information Technology, University of Potsdam, Germany with German Gov. Fellowship, to do research work as a guest scientist with Prof. M. Gossel in the area of VLSI testing and fault diagnosis from September 2000. He has been also invited from University of Michigan, Advanced Computer Architecture Lab,USA deptt of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and works have been done in collaboration with Professor John P.Hays, Shannon Professor of Engineering Science in the area of Quantum circuit” and Testable Design of Nano-Circuit in the year 2007. He also invited to Nara Institute of Science and Technology Nara, Japan to deliver a Lecture on Quantum Circuit in 2013. 30 years research experience of Dr. Chakraborty has been primarily focused on, Fault-Tolerant Computing, Synthesis and Testing of Quantum Circuit, Quantum cryptography, Cyber Physical Micro-fluidic Bio-chip & security, Big data analysis and application, Social network analysis, Internet of Things based security, Machine learning data mining, Approximate Computing/Stochastic Computing, Video & Image Processing, Gene Regulatory Network, Logic Synthesis and Testing of VLSI Circuits and Low Power Design.
